Well, Sh*t. The Brain DID Have a Vote. Go Figure.

A bunch of years ago children's toys were painted with lead paint, cocaine was considered medicinal, and your doctor would puff on ciggies while discussing your blood work. These things, among others, were just the norm and most people just accepted this stuff as normal. When a society accepts something, nothing changes. It's not until the generations after them take a peek and think, "WTAF was wrong with those people? and the future generations have the wisdom to see how f*cked up things were.

Hilde thinks the way society currently thinks about overweight people as lazy, lacking willpower, not trying hard enough and blabbety, blah, blah is gonna be discussed by our descendants as one of the crueler things perpetrated on people. Something seen as normal now is gonna be seen as pretty f*cked up by the future people living on Mars.

Any you wanna know why Hilde believes this?

'Cause Hilde has tried all the ways to lose weight. Grapefruit diet, egg diet, cabbage diet, no-sugar-no-flour diet, only vegetarian foods, only meat and high protein, no fat, lotsa fat, no carbs, etc etc. She lived through "the basic four" when no food pyramid existed to the point where the Food Pyramid toppled over and magically turned into My Plate. She's worked on adjusting her unhelpful and absolutely true thoughts of "I'm f*cking starving," exercised, then banned the word exercise and looked for "fun movement" so she could trick herself into thinking she wasn't exercising. And through all the heroic attempts, Hilde could never 1. lose the all her weight completely or 2. lose weight and keep it off for any length of time.

She planned the work and worked the plans and inevitably thought there must be something wrong with her brain that it just never shut TF up about eating.

Then, enter GLP-1 stage left and it's doing something pretty f*cking miraculous. The food chatter is scattering, and most days it's either completely gone or quietly murmuring in the background like a fan. Completely manageable. To Hilde, it's jolting how quiet the quiet of her brain is.

I think that's why Hilde felt like a graceful porpoise today when she went to the pool today. Hope (and a nice quiet atmosphere) will do that to you.
