GLP Adventure
Come along for some real talk as Hilde tackles her GLP journey-the shots, the side effects and the thoughts she can't keep to herself.

Apparently, the Devil Brain Works Nights
Hilde likes to talk about the "miracle" of the food noise being zapped away, and she continues to be in awe of how quiet Brain has been. But let's be real. Taking a GLP doesn't mean the food noise completely disappears and the weight just magically drops off and TADA! It's work. Brain used to be a little as*hat in the evenings before starting on the GLP. Now, the night is mostly manageable, similar to a smooth airplane flight with the occasional minor turbulence that m

Mrs. Tum-Tum, Brain, and Food Noise Attempt a Three-Legged Race.
Hilde's experiencing a war, of sorts, between her Body, Mrs. Tum-Tum, and Brain. They're all tossing signals like gang members and Hilde's practicing who TF to listen to and when. How hungry is hungry enough? Who decides? Brain or Mrs. Tum-Tum? What's normal hunger even FEEL like? Food noise, when not manically chattering in the background, sounds suspiciously like a regular "I'm hungry" thought. Which is which? Hilde blames the war of the body organs on years of restrictive

Hilde Gives Brain the One-Finger Salute
That food noise has some damn nerve coming back almost full throttle after the previous post. Hilde used cognitive behavioral therapy to reframe some thoughts; it helped. A few reframes she used that were particularly helpful-when she thought 'OMG IT'S NOT WORKING ANYMORE!" were: "You're due another dose soon; it makes complete sense this is happening-the concentration is reducing." "You've battled sh*ttuer demons in your life than this. You can get through this until the

Well, Sh*t. The Brain DID Have a Vote. Go Figure.
A bunch of years ago children's toys were painted with lead paint, cocaine was considered medicinal, and your doctor would puff on ciggies while discussing your blood work. These things, among others, were just the norm and most people just accepted this stuff as normal. When a society accepts something, nothing changes. It's not until the generations after them take a peek and think, "WTAF was wrong with those people? and the future generations have the wisdom to see how f

The Scale Got WAY Too Cocky.
When Lil' Hilde was five years old, she'd ride her little tricycle around the Air Force base her family was stationed at. One day, a little girl about the same age with long blonde hair, we'll call her Ponytails, blocked Lil' Hilde's trike. When Hilde told her to let go, Ponytails shook the handlebars, and pushed Lil' Hilde to the ground. Now, if you haven't lived through the 60s and 70s there were some general guidelines about handling bullies, and almost every family follo

WTF Was Wrong With Those Adults?
In her late elementary and early middle school years, there was nothing like her hearing it's time for "back-to-school clothes shopping." After dragging out in the August heat, her thighs rubbing against the in-seams of her polyester shorts, Lil' Hilde entered THE PRETTY PLUS SECTION in Sears, located by the Mall exit and right across from the THE HUSKY SECTION for boys. It was a tiny section; four or five carousels with a range of drab-colored blue or black polyester pant

The 70s and 80s Diet Culture Slogans
Diet culture was pretty intense back in the 70s and 80s and you learned the sh*tty diet phrases young. By 12 years old, Lil' Hilde had memorized her mother's two diet magnets that adorned the refrigerator. The fat smiling pig told Lil' Hilde to "Don't be a Pig." The other slogan warned her that if she let anything fattening touch her mouth...she was doomed to keep it on her hip area foreeeeevvvver. By the time she turned 13, Lil' Hilde was a member of a weight loss progra

Hilde Has a Before Brain and an After Brain.
Hilde is convinced that unless someone has been plagued by food noise, they have no idea what it feels like to have relief from it. An entire afternoon went by before Hilde realized she hadn't thought about food at all. She actually got more WORK done. With food noise, there's this torturous process where a food thought pops into the brain. BOING-it's there and it pokes, pokes, pokes. Hildes noise rarely went away unless she gave in to the food thought with eating somethi

Mrs. Tum-Tum Felt the Fill
Hilde realized that it's been so long with knowing when she was full, that feeling the fullness was kinda weird. Also weird? Food still sitting in her new pretty bowl.

Hilde's Taste Buds Are Jacked Up
It feels like someone sprinkled sparkles & sunshine on Hilde's food. Food tastes BRIGHTER and more nommy. It could've been the bangin' homemade Chick-fil-A chicken salad, though, 'cause it was perfection. For anyone super observant, you'll notice that the Mr. Tummus character has changed to Mrs. Tummus (aka Tum-Tum or various other nicknames). This is, after all, mostly a blog for and about women, so there you have it. That's enough reason to shift it. Let Hilde know if y

The Food Noise Shut TF Up & Mr. Tum-tum is Confused.
What is this MAGIC that made the food noise disappear? Mr. Tum doesn't know what's up. Hungry? Maybe, but not sure. Full? I think so. I'll tell ya, if THIS is how average-sized people's brains are all the time, then no WONDER they're thinner. They're not battling an incessant chitter-chatter that dogs them 24/7 to eat.

Mr. Tummus is Confused: GLP-1 Symptom Tracker Day 1
Hilde decided to make her own little cartoon symptom tracker to keep tabs on her GLP-1 adventure. The way some people talk though, she expected to be drawing copious amounts dookies, stinky booty-tooties, and flaming burps. Turns out it was a whole lot calmer than that.
